India
Roger Guth/Peter Mayer/Jim Mayer/Graham Nash
Little girl take my hand
Before the ways of the world make their demands
Airplane in the sky
The day will come when you will learn to say goodbye
Oh little little one tell me what you see
Fairy tales and wishing wells
Dragons in the sea
Chorus
India you’re my timeless child
Won’t you sing for me a lullabye
India your eyes hold a dream
Take good care of what tomorrow brings
Sky is blue, sun is red
Does a monster lay beneath your wooden bed
Storms come in the night
It will change the way you see the morning light
Oh little little one time will come to pass
When dreams so real will shatter like a fallen glass
Chorus
Oh little little one the window’s open wide
The days gonna come when you will learn to say goodbye
Chorus
Teach your children well
Their father’s hell will slowly go by,
And feed them on your dreams
The ones they pick the ones you’ll know by
Don’t you ever ask them why if they told you you would cry
So just look at them and sigh
And know they love you

In 1992, under the French flag, on the international plaza in Seoul, Korea I kissed a young lady. Efrat has been the love of my life. It was late night in early fall and a gentle rain was the symphony for the best love story that I have ever lived. For the last twenty years, this song has been the rally cry for a million memories of kisses and a hope of one day to kiss her again. Two wars later and a life to envy, I still remember her as the dream that got me through the hell Iraq was. Many years earlier an airplane took us apart and I was never able to say goodbye, maybe one day I will. “Fairy tales and wishing wells, Dragons in the sea.” Those words have been my life. I defeated the Dragon but the fairy tales were my terrors.
If I could describe what this song has done for me in the last twenty years…. Thank you.
Dear Sir, Thank you for writing this song.
